Wet and dry rot services
We identify and treat wet and dry rot. We trace the source of moisture, assess the extent of timber decay and carry out the necessary repairs. Our in-house team can manage the treatment, timber repairs and reinstatement from start to finish.

Wet rot
Wet rot occurs when timber remains exposed to excessive moisture, causing it to decay and lose its strength. We identify the moisture source, assess the affected timber and carry out the necessary treatment or replacement before reinstating the area.

Dry rot
Dry rot can spread through timber and cause significant damage if left untreated. We identify where the problem is coming from, how far it has spread and what needs to be done, then carry out the treatment and repairs to get your property back to a safe, sound condition.
Wet and dry rot treatment
Wet rot is a general term used to describe several types of fungi that can cause decay in timber. Unlike dry rot, wet rot requires high levels of moisture to grow and is most commonly found where timber has been exposed to persistent damp or water.
There are many different species of wet rot fungi, whereas dry rot is caused by a specific fungal species. Treatment focuses on identifying and eliminating the source of moisture, assessing the affected timber and repairing or replacing damaged areas where necessary.
From fungicidal treatment and timber preservation to repairs, replacement and reinstatement, our in-house team manages the work from investigation through to completion.

Reinstatement & redecoration

What if I need structural repairs or timber replacement?
If dry or wet rot has weakened structural timber, treatment alone may not be enough.
Where structural works are needed, our experienced in-house team can safely remove damaged timber and carry out the necessary repairs or replacement, including floor joists, roof timbers, studwork and other affected areas. We then complete any associated building works, making good and reinstatement.
You don’t need to coordinate multiple contractors. One team manages the work from investigation and treatment through to structural repairs, timber replacement and final reinstatement, giving you a clear plan and a single point of contact throughout.
Can the work be claimed on insurance?
Depending on the cause of the damage and the terms of your insurance policy, some repair costs may be covered. While wet and dry rot are often excluded as gradual deterioration, damage caused by an insured event may be covered under your buildings insurance.
We can provide a detailed report, photographs, findings and itemised quotation to support an insurance claim, giving you the documentation your insurer may require. We recommend contacting your insurer before starting significant works to confirm what is covered.
