Signs of dry rot
Dry rot is a fungal decay that attacks timber in damp conditions, causing it to crack, shrink and lose its structural strength. The fungus can spread through timber and across masonry, beyond the original source of moisture.

What if I need structural repairs or timber replacement?
If dry or wet rot has weakened structural timber, treatment alone may not be enough.
Where structural works are needed, our experienced in-house team can safely remove damaged timber and carry out the necessary repairs or replacement, including floor joists, roof timbers, studwork and other affected areas. We then complete any associated building works, making good and reinstatement.
You don’t need to coordinate multiple contractors. One team manages the work from investigation and treatment through to structural repairs, timber replacement and final reinstatement, giving you a clear plan and a single point of contact throughout.
Can the work be claimed on insurance?
Depending on the cause of the damage and the terms of your insurance policy, some repair costs may be covered. While wet and dry rot are often excluded as gradual deterioration, damage caused by an insured event may be covered under your buildings insurance.
We can provide a detailed report, photographs, findings and itemised quotation to support an insurance claim, giving you the documentation your insurer may require. We recommend contacting your insurer before starting significant works to confirm what is covered.
